【报告摘要】
With the demand of future high-density and low-power consumption electronic/spintronic devices, it gives people a strong impetus to discover functionalities and emerging quantum phenomena with a spatial resolution. In this talk, I shall share some of our recent insights about atomic force microscopy which has been employed on advanced functional materials. I would like to introduce how to characterize and control order parameters such as charge, spin, lattice and their coupling underneath the nanoscale TIPs, which is directly related to the physical phenomena such as energy interconversion, data storage and so on.
【报告人简介】
Prof. Zhang finished his post-doc work in university of California, Berkeley after he obtained Ph.D in 2009 at department of Applied Physics, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He has joined department of physics at Beijing Normal University since 2012 with 1000 Plan startup funding from chinese government, where he set up oxide thin films group. The central goal of prof. Zhang’s lab in Beijing Normal University is the pursuit of controllable functionalities in oxides and related structures at nanoscale. He is specifically interested in the emerging phenomena and exotic physical behaviors behind the coupling and control of multiple order parameters (e.g. lattice, spin, orbital, charges). He develops scanning probe techniques so that functionalities can be characterized and controlled with a high spatial resolution. Zhang lab also strives to create a bridge between those fundamental discoveries in functional nano-systems and future possible applications such as sensing/actuation, data storage, energy conversion, etc.
